The Community Hall

Following years of planning and fundraising the Community Hall was completed and opened in 2009 and has become a vital asset to the community. The hall is used both by individuals and groups on Raasay including the school for their PE lessons and school play, and for private parties and weddings. It is also used by off island organisations and businesses such as a local hairdresser, Highland Council, NHS Scotland, Forestry Commission when holding meetings etc on the island.

The Community Hall is split over two levels, with disabled external access to both levels and internal stairs between the two. The main parking for the hall is at the rear of the building, there is a drop off area and disabled parking at the front of the hall.

The main hall is downstairs and is suitable for sports, public meetings, parties and social events. It adjoins the kitchen and there are toilets, changing rooms and showers downstairs.
The upper level of the hall has a meeting room, large landing area suitable for informal meetings and a smaller room set up for the hairdresser. There is also a disabled toilet on this level.

The hall has sports equipment available for use (and included in the hire charges) for table tennis, badminton and indoor football. There is also audio equipment, a projector and lighting rigs.
The hall has 15+ tables and 80 chairs. The kitchen is well equipped and has crockery and cutlery to cater for 60+ people. The hall's capacity for functions is for 80 people when seated and 120 people standing, of these numbers the upstairs area can hold up to 20 people at any time.

The hall office also has desks available to rent by the day or half day which includes use of the Wifi.

Hire of the hall and it's facilities are available to both locals and visitors to Raasay.
